About the Role

We’re hiring a Head of Dispatch to oversee day-to-day dispatch operations, lead and develop a high-performing team, and drive results in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. You’ll set strategy, own KPIs, and roll up your sleeves when needed to keep loads moving and customers happy.

What You’ll Do

• Lead, mentor, and scale a team of dispatchers handling Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, or Stepdeck freight, fostering a culture of accountability, communication, and teamwork.
• Coordinate and dispatch trucks efficiently while optimizing schedules, routes, and load assignments to maximize utilization and on-time performance.
• Communicate clearly with drivers, brokers, customers, and internal teams; act as the escalation point for complex issues and tight deadlines.
• Solve problems on the fly-weather, breakdowns, last-minute changes-keeping operations seamless and customers informed.
• Own dispatch KPIs (OTD, dwell time, driver retention, revenue per truck, deadhead %) and implement continuous improvement practices.
• Use dispatch software and TMS tools like a pro; standardize best practices, reporting, and workflows across the team.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and DOT/FMCSA regulations; champion safe, professional operations.
• Partner with Sales and Operations on lane planning, pricing, and capacity to support profitable growth and service excellence.
• Build strong relationships with drivers; promote a positive, performance-driven culture.

Are You the One?

• You have proven experience dispatching Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, or Stepdeck freight in the U.S. market and understand securement, permits, and special handling.
• You have 2+ years of leadership experience managing dispatchers/drivers with a collaborative, hands-on style.
• You excel in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments and can prioritize multiple tasks without dropping the ball.
• You’re a strong communicator who stays calm under pressure and leads by example.
• You’re fluent with dispatch software/TMS tools (e.g., McLeod, TMW, Rose Rocket, LoadMaster) and commonly used platforms (e.g., DAT, Truckstop, Samsara/KeepTruckin).
• You take ownership, use data to make decisions, and love improving processes.
• Schedule flexibility for after-hours/on-call coverage as needed.

Location & Schedule

• Location: On-site within the U.S. 
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, with rotating on-call coverage for after-hours emergencies.
