About the Job

The MHPSS field officer implements Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities as defined in collaboration with the MHPSS delegate and/or MHPSS Regional Specialist EURASIA and the relevant coordinator at national level. S/he provides direct support to victims of armed conflict and/or other situations of violence and/or trains, supervises and coaches others to do so. S/he could manage pre-established national level MHPSS programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and follows up on MHPSS activities at local and national level.
  • Trains and supports MHPSS professionals from other organizations/partners/teams to provide psychological and psychosocial support as per the program strategy.
  • Organizes referral of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up.
  • Complying with ICRC standards, sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures regular data collection.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with health authorities, academia, technical advisers from other organizations, etc. as necessary.
  • Creates and maintains direct links with MHPSS program beneficiaries.
  • Maintains regular communication with the Mental Health & psychological delegate or MHPSS Regional Specialist EURASIA and/or relevant Coordinator, providing data and program updates.
  • Provide inputs for internal and external reports and meetings.
  • Participate in visits to the RC branches and in relevant meetings.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with partners and other interlocutors: authorities at the municipal/regional level, local/regional RC branches, etc.
  • Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments
  • Elaborates institutional reports on time (MoM, FTR, SitRep, MAD, PFR, MFR, etc.) and guarantees an accurate data entry using the ICRC system (Pearl/Open MRS).
  • Administrative / financial tasks linked to the MHPSS activities, following the ICRC procedures.
  • Provides individual consultations or group support meetings when necessary and when aligned to the MHPSS objectives within the geographical and strategic remit of the delegation (ie in case of emergency response).

Certifications/Education required

  • University degree in clinical psychology (minimum 3 years' university study)
  • Fluent command of English and Russian.
  • License to practice in his/her own country.
  • Computer proficiency.

Desired Profile and Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience with a minimum of 2 years' experience in MHPSS programs.
  • Experience in managing teams is an asset.
  • Red Cross/Red Crescent experience an asset.
  • Clinical and/or psychosocial experience.
  • Humanitarian experience an asset.
